Types of Reverse Mortgages


Becker Group Financial offers all of the reverse mortgages currently available. The three types of reverse mortgages are:

  1. Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM)
    These mortgages are available from HUD-approved lending institutions and are insured under the government's Federal Housing Administration (FHA) insurance program. This type of mortgage accounts for over 90% of reverse mortgages.

  2. The HomeKeeper Mortgage
    These are Fannie Mae's (Federal National Mortgage Association) conventional reverse mortgages and are offered by participating FNMA-approved lending institutions. The conventional mortgages have higher loan limits than the FHA program mentioned above.

  3. The Financial Freedom Cash Account
    This is a proprietary product designed specifically to meet the needs of seniors with high-value homes. All other reverse mortgage products have maximum lending limits and thereby may limit the amount of money available to you. The "Cash Account" has virtually no loan limits.


Application Process

  2. Consultation - We will arrange for you to meet with one of our Reverse Mortgage Specialists who will explain how the reverse mortgage works and answer any questions you might have. Your Specialist will listen to your specific needs to help you determine if the reverse mortgage is right for you. Once you decide to move forward, we will begin the application process.

  3. Application - During the application process, you will complete the loan application. We will help you analyze which loan option is best for your needs.

  4. HUD Counseling - Next, you will receive free independent counseling from a HUD-approved agency. The counselor ensures you receive the information necessary to make an informed decision.

  5. Appraisal and Inspection - We will schedule an appraisal and inspection to determine the value of your home and make sure the home is structurally sound.

  6. Loan Approval and Closing - We work directly with the lender to obtain your loan approval and closing in a timely manner.

  7. Loan Disbursement - After the loan closes, you will receive the funds according to the payment option you have chosen.
